Well it's been a unique year this 2020 has. We started this channel 6 months ago to show folks with disabilities that you can still, and should, get out there and do stuff! We are surprised how well it has been received! We set ourselves a few goals and we discuss them in our video. Tanya has even made a couple 'short' vids too.
Christmas was small this year. My shoulders hurt and really prevented any travel. So we stayed home and just had Tanya's kiddos and dad for the day. Let me tell you how good my smoked turkey was! I brined it overnight, then injected it with a butter/broth mix that was A-May-ZING! It was the best turkey I've ever had!!! True story! If you ever get the chance to try my turkey, it'll change your life! :-D

I love to hunt, I always have. Before the wheelchair, I could simply just grab a gun and go. But in a wheelchair, hunting takes a lot more thought and planning. I applied awhile back for a few hunts at the Kern National Wildlife Refuge. The US Fish and Wildlife Service has 2 accessible hunting blinds for waterfowl hunters, and I was lucky enough to draw one for the day after Christmas. So I invited my high school buddy (GK), an avid hunter, and we went.
As hunting blinds go, it was pretty nice. The ADA hunters are allowed to drive to the blind and load/unload. The able bodies have to haul everything to and from the parking lots. So that certainly made things easier. We fixed up the blind, got the decoys set and waited. And we waited. Aaaaand we waited ... We saw a lot of birds flying by in the stratosphere, but none close to being within range. All of our decoys and duck calls couldn't entice those ornery boogers to come in close or land by the decoys.

The look of frustration.
So after getting to the Refuge at 4am, sitting in the blind for 6 hours we had to admit defeat and pack up. But we had a good time!
Long story short, just because you have hurdles, don't ever stop running the race. There are so many things you can do and you owe it to yourself to try them. Close out the year doing something you love, or something new, just get out there and do it. When life throws you a curve ... Just roll with it!
As always, check out our YouTube channel, subscribe and "thumbs up" ...
